Sustainability
Villa AltoGiardino has been designed to minimize its carbon footprint: the property demonstrates a constant commitment to promoting a more sustainable lifestyle for guests and the surrounding environment. For this reason, we also need guests’ help, and we suggest downloading the official United Nations app, AWorld, to learn about their carbon footprint and discover fun ways to reduce it.
The villa adopts sustainable practices to lessen its environmental impact, including the use of eco-friendly materials, responsible water management, and is powered by a photovoltaic and solar system, reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources and contributing to clean energy production.
Villa AltoGiardino shows that it is possible to create luxurious and inviting environments with a responsible and conscious approach. The villa incorporates a range of eco-sustainable practices and attention to environmental conservation, providing guests with a nature-respecting and responsible experience, rich in native plants and colorful flowers, promoting biodiversity and creating habitats for insects and birds. Here’s a summary of these features:
Forest Gardening
This is an innovative and sustainable approach to food production and garden management, based on understanding natural relationships and mimicking forest ecosystems to create regenerative and self-sufficient environments.
Water and Energy Conservation
We have implemented practices that reduce waste of water and energy, promoting responsible use of these precious resources. All appliances are Electrolux, a leader in sustainability, and everything is electric, including the heating and cooling system, supported by wood-burning fireplaces. The garden consists of native plants or those adapted to rocky soil and scarce water resources, making it water self-sufficient after the first year. The fencing is designed to allow small animals to freely enter and exit, respecting the surrounding ecosystem.
Restored Furnishings
The villa’s furnishings have been restored and reused, reducing resource consumption and promoting recycling and reuse. All new materials, such as the extensive kitchen equipment and small appliances provided, have been carefully selected to be made from recycled or recyclable materials from suppliers committed to sustainability throughout the production chain.
Guests are provided with a sustainable water bottle for use during their stay. The water comes from the villa’s well, has been analyzed, and is classified as potable. Additionally, a UV treatment system ensures its safety. It’s perfect to take along for excursions and helps minimize plastic use.
Beekeeping
The presence of beehives in the garden supports beekeeping, contributing to the conservation of bees and the pollination of plants, and produces local organic honey.
Eco-sustainable Pool
NB: Under construction; unfortunately, due to bureaucratic issues, the pool will be available in 2026.
The pool is designed using Biodesign technology, resembling a natural swimming lake, unique in shape and elegance. This element enhances the garden in every season while respecting the environment during both construction and use, thanks to low-impact cleaning and disinfection methods.
Advantages of Biodesign Technology
Total Absence of Concrete and Masonry: The Biodesign structure does not require masonry or concrete pouring, utilizing eco-compatible and non-polluting materials.
Increased Safety: The beaches and gently sloping edges are shaped to maintain a uniform level, with slopes never exceeding 45°, ensuring safe bathing.
Exclusivity of Shape and Materials: Each swimming lake is unique, perfectly integrated into the landscape and respectful of the environment at all stages, from construction to maintenance.
Biodesign Filtration System
The filtration systems guarantee clear and sterilized water, thanks to non-polluting treatments. The technical rooms for filtration, made of buried fiberglass, avoid the use of reinforced concrete structures, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
